          Delete the Password

User should keep a record of the password when the new password is created. If the password is not available, the only way to boot the system without the password is to disable CMOS RAM by removing the battery for at lease 10 minutes, than replace the battery, rebooting the system and reconfiguring the system BIOS as before.

        Boot Sector Anti-Virus

When enabled, the BIOS issues a warning when any program or virus issues a Disk Format command or attempts to write to the boot sector of the hard disk drive.

      Default
        Original

Select this option to restore the last entered values of the BIOS setting and delete all current changes.

        Optimal

Select “Optimal” configuration, the system automatically configure with the best-case factory per-determined values to optimize the system performance. If CMOS RAM is corrupted, the Optimal values should be use as default to be loaded automatically.

        Fail-Safe

Select “Fail-Safe” configuration, the system will configure to use the default values are the most stable and less performance for the system. Use this option as a diagnostic aid if the system is behaving erratically.

      Write to CMOS and Exit

The configurations settings in BIOS will be stored in CMOS RAM when this option is selected. RAM checksum is calculated, written to CMOS and control is passed to the system BIOS.

When "Write to CMOS and Exit (Y/N) ? N" is displayed, press <Enter> to save the system parameters and continue the boot process. The BIOS either reboots the system (if any new settings change the memory map) or continues the boot process.

Do Not Write to CMOS and Exit

This option passes control to the ROM BIOS without writing any changes to CMOS RAM.

Press <Esc> to return to the Main Menu. Press <Enter> to continue the boot process without saving any system parameters changed in Setup.

APPENDIX A: BIOS Power-On Self-Test Error Codes

Every time the system is powered on, the BIOS executes two types of POST routines:

System Test and Initialization by test and begin normal operations. System Configuration Verification by compare defined BIOS configuration with hardware actually installed.

If the non fatal error occurs after the display device is ready, the error message will be displayed on screen. Displayed error messages, in most cases, allow the system to continue to boot. A prompt to press <F1> , if enabled, to continue the booting process may also appear with the displayed error messages.

If fatal errors are detected before the display device is ready, a series of beeping sounds will occur. Fatal errors will not allow the system to continue the boot process. The number of beeps will indicate the type of error. The AMIBIOS Beep Codes are described as follows.

Beep Code Error message Description 1 beep Refresh Failure The memory refresh circuitry is faulty. 2 beeps Parity Error Parity error in the base memory (the first 64 KB block) of memory. 3 beeps Base 64 KB Memory Failure Memory failure in first 64 KB. 4 beeps Timer Not Operational A memory failure in the first 64 KB of memory, or Timer 1 is not functioning. 5 beeps Processor error The CPU generated an error. 6 beeps Gate A20 Failure Gate A20 function allows the CPU to operate in protected mode. The BIOS is not able to switch the CPU to protected mode. 7 beeps Processor Exception Interrupt Error The CPU generated an exception interrupt. 8 beeps Display Memory Read/write Error The system video adapter is either missing or its memory is faulty. This is not a fatal error. 9 beeps ROM Checksum Error The ROM checksum value does not match the value encoded in the BIOS. 10 beeps CMOS Shutdown Register Read/Write Error The shutdown register for CMOS RAM has failed. 11 beeps Cache memory bad-do not enable cache The cache memory test failed. Cache memory is disabled. Do not enable cache memory.
